The Realm of Low Expectations

As a startup investor, I've seen many careers develop over the last 20 years and one of the worst patterns I see is: low expectations.
Just because you charge transaction fees, doesn’t mean you can’t add on recurring fees.
If a customer wants a feature sooner or better customer support. You can absolutely start charging them a recurring monthly or annual fee for that, in addition to their regular transaction fees.
Even better, roll transaction volume and features into a tiered set of annual plans, so if a customer’s volume grows, or if they need additional features — they must move up to a higher tier and commit to paying more.
