The North West Grant
The North West is full of talent but, in our opinion, the region does not get its fair share of capital when it comes to startup investment. Our hope is that this grant can help some people get started who wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
- How much is this grant for? £1,000.
- What are the eligibility requirements? You must be a founder based in the North West of England. Any idea will be considered but most grants will be awarded to software projects and traditionally overlooked founders.
- What type of founder is this for? Anyone that’s working on a software project! Don’t hesitate, apply now.

We believe in great ideas and want to support up to 25 Oxford University students and alumni annually via this grant and the subsequent coaching.

Application Process

What to Expect

The application process is designed to be quick and easy, so you can get started on your project ASAP.

Here’s a rough outline of what to expect: Apply online > Zoom call > Basic Diligence Checks > Grant Sent

Once you receive your grant, there’s no additional requirements but all recipients can join regular group sessions to discuss their project and get help.

We want to invest in areas that are full of talent but do not always get their fair share of startup investments. Our hope is that these grants can help some teams get started who wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
What categories does Sterling Road provide grants for?
All. While we do focus on software projects and traditionally overlooked founders, we are most interested in talent that needs a helping hand.
Are there any commitments for grant recipients?
If you’re selected for a grant, we will invite you to attend a monthly check in session with other recipients, to get help and get advice. These sessions are optional and you can attend for as long as it makes sense for your project.
What if we have already raised money?
Congratulations! The grant is for people just getting started, so you’re too far along for this program. Please take a look at our investment programs.
