Rust’s Rules of Negotiation
November 17, 2025
Over the last 20 years, I’ve been involved in negotiations for everything from small sales contracts to IPOs.
If you’re in College or Graduate School and thinking about starting a company, then the summer is usually a perfect time to give it a try. Let everyone else sip wine in the Mediterranean, you have a company to build.
2 months of time is more than enough for 2–3 people to build and launch an app, and even generate revenue. It will be intense, but we see teams doing it all the time.
Most people have less deadlines and demands on their time during this period, that means you and anyone you’re building with, should be able to fully focus on the project.
Working hard on a startup idea over the summer is unlikely to interfere with your university course, plus if things go amazingly well, it’s also the right moment to defer your studies.
Best of luck out there.
