Startup Sales — 5 Common Sales Mistakes by Founders
August 12, 2025
Founders are responsible for the first sales a startup will make. For many founders, this is one of their very first experiences of sales and mistakes are often made.
If you don’t ask for help when you launch, you’re leaving a lot on the table. Here’s what to ask for:
Be sure to ask your friends and investors to give your beta versions a try, that’s extra feedback and they often catch a lot of bugs.
Ask your network to download and review your app, once it’s in an app store. This can make a huge difference to distribution, so give yourself a head start.
If people in your circles like the app, they’re likely to tell others and be a strong reference, given they’re already biased in your favor.
Lots of people will be willing to post and re-post on your behalf. I usually suggest asking for help a few days in advance, then coordinating the post timings.
Best of luck out there.
