The Realm of Low Expectations
February 20, 2026
As a startup investor, I've seen many careers develop over the last 20 years and one of the worst patterns I see is: low expectations.
When you find product market fit and customers are saying “wow”, the CEO needs to start focusing on Hiring. But what does that mean in terms of time.
Yes, the overwhelming majority of your time will need to be spent on hiring. This is not a drill, 25-50% simply will not get you the best team possible
The reality of your new role means you have to delegate most of your current responsibilities out to other team members. The sooner you do this the better.
Your product may make less progress as a result of all this change. That is ok, if we hire a sensational team, that will fix the problem.
Best of luck out there.
