Startup Sales — 5 Common Sales Mistakes by Founders
August 12, 2025
Founders are responsible for the first sales a startup will make. For many founders, this is one of their very first experiences of sales and mistakes are often made.
Today, we’re talking about following up. Always follow-up with an investor. Sometimes it’s hard to do that 3rd follow up with an unresponsive investor but you must summon the energy.
If the investor isn’t chasing you, then the probability of them converting to an investment is low BUT it’s not zero. There’s still a chance and we have to work on that chance. We Follow-up every 3–5 days with good news & updates. New investors in the round, the round filling up and any product or sales wins.
If you combine this low probability with lots of meetings, following-up will lead to investments you wouldn’t otherwise have closed. That;s more time to build the company you want.
