America Destroys Its Advantage
April 29, 2025
For decades American Universities have been the envy of the World. With the brightest minds and the best facilities, these globally recognized institutions acted as a magnet for talent everywhere.
I meet lots of founders who are trying to build a Superhuman. They dream of creating the perfect lawyer, accountant or driver; a completely infallible robot only capable of taking the most optimal actions. Needless to say, this is incredibly hard. The Superhuman does not exist and there aren’t many good examples to follow, as training data is based on flawed humans.
It’s much easier to replicate a very good human. If the person is still alive, you have an ever growing dataset to train, you can even track them more closely with new tools and get feedback. You can also narrow the problem significantly by focusing on the most time consuming but least challenging tasks first. AI is great at solving those kinds of problems.
Outside of being easier, this is also what the World needs. With millions of open roles for knowledge workers and a widening skills gap, as our aging population retires, we are in urgent need of a way to mimic the best humans at their most important tasks. The opportunity is enormous.
