Apple is a Sinking Ship

Apple is a Sinking Ship

This week's Apple Developer Conference was a chance for the tech juggernaut to turn the page on its disastrous approach to AI. Instead, it solidified the company's destiny as a sinking ship, failing to adapt.

To their credit, Apple admitted Siri still isn't living up to the meager announcements from a year ago, but there isn't a clear timeline on when those features will launch. When faced with similar situations, other companies have reacted with either a huge internal push, e.g. Google Gemini, or buying a relevant startup. Apple seems to lack the talent to do the first option and seems too proud to buy a solution.

Making matters worse, Apple's new visual design is a mess. "Liquid Glass" was a poor concept when Microsoft added it to their famously bad "Vista" operating system, 20 years ago. Now Apple is repeating the same mistakes, with user videos on social media exposing how untidy and unusable iOS has become. Design is supposed to be Apple's strength.

Of course, this is a Trillion dollar company with massive revenue coming from both hardware and services products, it will take years for them to hit the doldrums of IBM or Yahoo. But even services revenue is under serious threat following court rulings against Apple's anti-competitive behavior. After serious missteps on AI, competition and now design, it's clear Steve Jobs' legacy is fading. Apple is a sinking ship.
